Opening Day Scrimmage
Emily Buck surrendered one hit, but the Etowah Eagles Varsity still fell to Creekview 8-4 in seven innings on Friday at Etowah.
Creekview never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on a two-run double by Ariel Rogers.
Creekview built upon its lead with four runs in the third. The inning looked promising, as Abby Wagner doubled, bringing home Riley Densmore and Abby Stanley to kick things off. That was followed up by Megan Mason's double, scoring Abby Wagner.
After posting one run in the fourth, Creekview again scored one in the fifth. In the fourth, Creekview scored on a solo home run by Avery Pickerill.
Four the Etowah Eagles Varsity runs crossed the plate in the bottom half of the seventh, making the score 8-4. A walk by Olivia Heck, a groundout by Emily Buck, and a two-run error triggered the Etowah Eagles Varsity's comeback. Creekview's Anna Belle Tippens induced a Emilie Watson fly out to close things out.
Game 1- Etowah vs. Collins Hill
The Etowah Eagles Varsity fell 12-10 to Collins Hill in seven innings on Saturday at West Forsyth despite racking up 11 hits and 10 runs. Megan D'Aquino got on base four times in the game for the Etowah Eagles Varsity. She singled in the third, fourth, and seventh innings. The Etowah Eagles Varsity jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
The lead stayed with Collins Hill after the first, when it scored four runs on a two-run single by M Chappell and a two-run triple by C Floor.
Collins Hill got three-run rallies in the second inning and the third. In the second, Collins Hill scored on an error, plating Adeox.
Four the Etowah Eagles Varsity runs crossed the plate in the top half of the third, making the score 7-5. An RBI single by Taylor Shannon, an RBI double by Emily Buck, and a two-run single by Hannah McGraw triggered the Etowah Eagles Varsity's comeback. Finally, S Mooney induced an inning-ending ground out from Emily Ashworth. Collins Hill tacked on another three runs in the third. G Russell kicked things off with a double, plating Adeox and B Painter. That was followed up by N Madison's single, scoring Russell.
The Etowah Eagles Varsity scored three runs in the top of the fourth to cut their deficit to two. A sacrifice fly by Shannon and a two-run single by Jaycee Wallace set off the Etowah Eagles Varsity rally. But, Bryant got Emily Buck to to end the inning. Collins Hill increased its lead with two runs in the sixth. Pettus' double got things going, bringing home Moore. Two runs in the top of the seventh helped the Etowah Eagles Varsity close their deficit to 12-10. A groundout by Morgan Dozier and a sacrifice fly by Shannon gave the Etowah Eagles Varsity life. Collins Hill closed the game out when Bryant got Emilie Watson to fly out.
Game 2- Etowah vs. West Forsyth
The Etowah Eagles Varsity collected seven hits, but the Etowah Eagles Varsity fell 10-4 to West Forsyth at West Forsyth on Saturday.
B Concatto, S Hayla, M Thompson and M Adams helped lead West Forsyth. They combined for seven hits and six RBIs.
Three runs in the bottom of the fourth helped the Etowah Eagles Varsity close their deficit to 6-3. An RBI single by Olivia Heck and a two-run single by Kristen Keenan sparked the Etowah Eagles Varsity's rally. M Thompson ended the inning by getting Megan D'Aquino to ground out.
West Forsyth tacked on another four runs in the sixth. The inning got off to a hot start when M Adams tripled, scoring E Kraft, C Behan and M Thompson. That was followed up by Concatto's double, plating M Adams.
The Etowah Eagles Varsity scored one run in the bottom of the sixth to cut their deficit to six. A groundout by Jaclyn Regnery triggered the Etowah Eagles Varsity's comeback. The Etowah Eagles Varsity threat came to an end when M Thompson finally got Morgan Dozier to ground out.
Game 3- Etowah vs. Sequoyah
An eight-run explosion in the fifth inning carried the Etowah Eagles Varsity to a 14-0 win in five innings over Sequoyah at Reinhardt on Saturday.
The Etowah Eagles Varsity scored in the fifth on a wild pitch, a walk by Skylar Wallace, a sacrifice fly by Megan D'Aquino, a two-run single by Lexi Palazzo, an RBI single by Sarah Garrett, and a two-run double by Emily Buck.
The Etowah Eagles Varsity were led by a flawless day at the dish by Morgan Dozier, who went 2-2 against Sequoyah's pitching.
Maddie Billings put together a nice outing. Billings held Sequoyah hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out five.
The Etowah Eagles Varsity never trailed after scoring one run in the first on a sacrifice fly by Palazzo.
Game 4- Etowah vs. Woodstock
Emily Ashworth did her best to change the outcome, but Emily Ashworth couldn't carry the Etowah Eagles Varsity past Woodstock as the Etowah Eagles Varsity lost 5-0 in seven innings at Etowah on Thursday.
Woodstock couldn't get anything going as long as Emily Ashworth was pitching. Woodstock managed just one hit off of the the Etowah Eagles Varsity's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out none during her one inning of work.
Woodstock was sparked by #23 and #7, who teamed up for five hits and two RBIs.
Woodstock didn't relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the first inning when it scored on two singles.
Woodstock added three more runs in the top of the sixth. The inning got off to a hot start when #5 tripled, bringing home #15. That was followed up by #23's double, plating #5.
Game 5- Etowah vs. Pope
An awesome effort by Lexi Palazzo carried the Etowah Eagles Varsity to a 9-1 win in six innings over Pope on Tuesday at Pope. Palazzo rocked Pope with two home runs. Palazzo went 2-3 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Palazzo homered in the third and fourth innings.The Etowah Eagles Varsity beat Pope thanks to 10 hits, including four extra base hits.
The Etowah Eagles Varsity hit three home runs in the win. Home runs for the Etowah Eagles Varsity came when Palazzo homered in the third and fourth innings and Emilie Watson homered in the sixth inning.

Game 6- Etowah vs. Roswell
A five-run explosion in the second inning carried the Etowah Eagles Varsity to an 8-0 win in five innings over Roswell at Etowah on Thursday.
The Etowah Eagles Varsity scored in the second on a passed ball, a two-run single by Jaclyn Regnery, a hit by pitch, and a groundout by Sarah Garrett.
Skylar Wallace boosted her batting average thanks to a perfect 2-2 day at the plate to pace the Etowah Eagles Varsity. She tripled in the first inning and singled in the fifth inning. The Etowah Eagles Varsity's Garrett kept Roswell off the scoreboard for all five innings she was in the circle. She pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out four. The Etowah Eagles Varsity stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring two runs on two errors.
Game 7- Etowah vs. Murray County
Skylar Wallace went 2-3 as the Etowah Eagles Varsity took home a 4-1 victory over Murray County in six innings at Etowah on Friday.
She singled in the first and fourth innings. Emily Ashworth was a workhorse on the rubber for the Etowah Eagles Varsity. Emily Ashworth pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks while striking out four. The Etowah Eagles Varsity jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Wallace got things going for the Etowah Eagles Varsity with a single. A stolen base then moved Wallace from first to second. Jaclyn Regnery singled, bringing home Wallace. Murray County's lone run of the ballgame came in the first inning on a solo home run by #12. The game was never in doubt after the second, as the Etowah Eagles Varsity scored one run on. The Etowah Eagles Varsity pushed across one run in both the third inning and the fourth. In the third, the Etowah Eagles Varsity scored on an RBI double by Lexi Palazzo, plating Regnery.
Game 8- Etowah vs. Harrison
Despite four hits, the Etowah Eagles Varsity lost 7-1 to Harrison on Friday at Etowah. Harrison was sparked by #13 and #17, who teamed up for eight hits and four RBIs. The game was never in doubt after the first, as Harrison scored four runs on two singles and a two-run triple by #9. Harrison piled on three more runs in the top of the third. #2 singled, plating #19 to start the inning. That was followed up by #13's double, scoring #2. The sixth inning saw the Etowah Eagles Varsity score their only run on the day on an RBI single by Lexi Palazzo.
Game 9- Etowah vs. Kennesaw Mountain High School
Skylar Wallace went 2-2, but the Etowah Eagles Varsity still fell to Kennesaw Mountain High School 7-6 in five innings on Saturday at Kennesaw Mountain High School. Maddie Billings was in control in the circle. Kennesaw Mountain High School managed just one hit off of Billings, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out six during her three innings of work.
Kennesaw Mountain High School was sparked by #2 and #23, who teamed up for five hits and five RBIs. The top of the first saw Kennesaw Mountain High School take an early lead, 1-0. #2 got things going for Kennesaw Mountain High School with a single. A groundout by #9 then moved #2 from first to second. #23 singled, bringing home #2. It didn't take long for the Etowah Eagles Varsity to answer as they scored four runs of their own in the first. The Etowah Eagles Varsity scored on a fielder's choice, an RBI double by Lexi Palazzo, and a two-run home run by Emilie Watson. The lead stayed with Kennesaw Mountain High School after the third, when it scored three runs on an error and a two-run home run by #4.
Game 10- Etowah vs. Armuchee
The Etowah Eagles Varsity lost 5-4 in six innings at Kennesaw Mountain High School on Saturday, despite outhitting Armuchee six to five.
Skylar Wallace had a hot bat for the Etowah Eagles Varsity. Wallace went 1-2 and scored two runs. She singled in the fourth inning. The top of the first saw Armuchee take an early lead, 2-0. Armuchee then tacked on more runs when scored on a groundout by #33. Armuchee brought home one run in the third inning, and matched that run total in the fourth. In the third, Armuchee scored on a walk by #20, plating #7. After a quick strike from Armuchee, the Etowah Eagles Varsity responded with three runs in the third. The Etowah Eagles Varsity scored on an RBI single by Maddie Billings and a two-run single by Lexi Palazzo. Armuchee went up for good in the fourth, scoring one run on.
Game 11- Etowah vs. Hiram
The Etowah Eagles Varsity jumped out to an early lead on Hiram and captured a 10-0 victory on Saturday at Kennesaw Mountain High School.
Eight runs in the first three innings allowed the Etowah Eagles Varsity to put the game away early. A wild pitch and a two-run single by Jaycee Wallace during the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Taylor Shannon, an RBI double by Maddie Billings, and a groundout by Emilie Watson in the second inning helped the Etowah Eagles Varsity put some runs on the board early.
